Borāzjān is a small city in the southwestern region of Iran, Nestled between the Zagros Mountains and the Persian Gulf. It is located in Bushehr province, Known for its cultural heritage and natural beauty. The city has a population of about 50, 000 people and is an important economic center. The history of Borāzjān dates back to ancient times when it was known as Borazjan or Burzenjin. It was a significant center for trade during the Sassanian Empire due to its location on the Silk Road.

The city played an essential role during Islamic rule in Iran as it served as a military base during various wars. The historic bazaar is one of Borāzjān’s most notable landmarks dating back over 500 years ago. Noteable History

  1. In 634 AD, the Battle of Borazjan occurred between the Arab forces led by Khalid ibn al-Walid and the Sassanid Persian forces led by Hormozd IV. The Arab forces emerged victorious.
  2. Sheikh Ahmad-e Jami was a renowned Sufi poet and mystic who resided in Borazjan during the 16th century. He is celebrated for his poetry collections such as Lawa’ih and Salaman va Absal.
  3. Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, one of Iran’s longest-reigning monarchs, visited Borazjan during his reign in the 19th century.
  4. Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh served as Prime Minister of Iran from 1951 to 1953 but was overthrown by a coup orchestrated by foreign powers and spent some time in exile in Borazjan.
  5. During the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), Borazjan was situated near the front lines and witnessed intense fighting between Iranian and Iraqi forces.
  6. Ali Akbar Salehi is an Iranian nuclear physicist who held positions as head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization from 2009 to 2010 and again from 2013 to present day.
  7. Khalil Maleki was an Iranian poet born on October 26,1894 in Borazjan known for his poems about love , freedom , justice, and peace .
  8. Ali Khamenei is currently serving as supreme leader of Iran; he has visited borzajan multiple times throughout his political career.
