  1. The Battle of Cai Lậy occurred during the Vietnam War on January 4, 1968. It was a part of the Tet Offensive launched by North Vietnam against South Vietnam, with the South Vietnamese Army fighting against Viet Cong.
  2. Truong Dinh was a famous general who fought against French colonial rule in Vietnam during the early 20th century. He was born in Cai Be, which is now part of Cai Lậy district.
  3. Nguyen Sinh Sac was a teacher and father of Ho Chi Minh, who later became the leader of North Vietnam during the war. Nguyen Sinh Sac lived in Kim Lien village within Cai Lậy district.
  4. Huynh Thuc Khang was another revolutionary leader who fought against French colonial rule in Vietnam during the early 20th century and lived in Tan Phuoc village within Cai Lậy district.
  5. In April 2020, there were clashes between Vietnamese authorities and residents over land disputes related to military-owned land being used for commercial purposes by local officials in Dong Tam commune located within Cai Lậy district.
