Concepcion is a municipality located in the northern part of Iloilo province in the Philippines. It is situated on the northeastern coast of Panay Island, Facing the Visayan Sea. The town has a total land area of 9, 200 hectares and is divided into 25 barangays. Its population as per 2020 census was around 57, 000. One of Concepcion’s main attractions is its pristine beaches which are perfect for swimming, Sunbathing or simply relaxing.

Among these beaches are Agho Island Beach Resort, Nogas Island Beach Resort and Sand Bar Beach Resort which offer crystal-clear waters and white sand shores that will surely captivate visitors. Aside from its picturesque beaches, Concepcion also boasts several historical landmarks that reflect its rich cultural heritage. One such landmark is the Concepcion Church which was built in 1875 by Augustinian friars and features an ornate altar made out of silver.

Noteable History

1. The Battle of Concepcion: This battle took place during the Philippine-American War on April 23, 1899. It was fought between Filipino revolutionary forces led by General Antonio Luna and American troops commanded by Colonel James Parker.
2. Marcelo H. del Pilar: He was a prominent figure in the Philippine Revolution against Spain and one of the founders of La Liga Filipina, a civic organization that aimed to unite Filipinos against Spanish colonialism.
