Debre Tabor is a historic town located in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. The town sits at an altitude of 2, 850 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains and hills. Emperor Tewodros II made Debre Tabor his capital city during the mid-19th century. The town has a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was an important center for trade, Religion, And education during the Axumite period. Several monasteries and churches were built during this time which still stand today. Emperor Tewodros II’s palace is one of the most notable landmarks in Debre Tabor.
