Dehri is a small town located in the Rohtas district of the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated on the banks of the Sone River, Which flows through the town and provides its residents with a source of livelihood. Dehri has been an important trading center since ancient times due to its strategic location at the confluence of two major rivers, Sone and Karamnasa. The town is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The famous Sher Shah Suri Bridge, Also known as Dariya-e-Sher Shah or Sone Bridge, Connects Dehri with Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh.

This bridge was built during Sher Shah Suri’s reign in 1540 AD and is considered to be one of his greatest architectural achievements. Apart from this historic bridge, Dehri also has several other places of interest that attract tourists from all over India. One such place is the Rohtasgarh Fort, Which was built by Raja Harishchandra in 7th century AD. The fort served as a stronghold for many rulers including Sher Shah Suri who used it as his military base during his campaign against Humayun.

Another popular attraction in Dehri is Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary which covers an area of around 1, 300 square kilometers and houses various species of animals like tigers, Leopards, Deer, Monkeys etc. The sanctuary also offers scenic views with lush green forests and hills.   2. Veer Kunwar Singh was a prominent freedom fighter who played a crucial role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against British rule. He hailed from Jagdishpur, which is located near Dehri.
  3. The Sone Bridge, also known as the Koilwar Bridge, is an important railway bridge that spans the Sone River near Dehri. It was constructed in 1900 and is considered one of India’s longest bridges.
  4. Anugrah Narayan Sinha was an influential Indian independence activist and politician who served as Bihar’s first Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister after India gained independence in 1947. He hailed from Shahabad district, which includes Dehri.
