Erie, Pennsylvania is a city located in the northwestern region of the state. It sits on the southern shore of Lake Erie, One of the Great Lakes, And is known for its stunning waterfront views. The city covers an area of approximately 20 square miles and has a population of over 95, 000 people. Erie was founded in 1795 by Frenchman Francois-Marie Bissot, Also known as Sieur de la Salle. The city played an important role in American history as a transportation hub for goods traveling between New York City and Chicago during the Industrial Revolution.

Erie’s location on Lake Erie made it an ideal port for shipping iron ore from Minnesota to steel mills in Pittsburgh. Today, Erie remains an important industrial center with manufacturing plants producing plastics, Chemicals and medical equipment. However, Tourism has become increasingly important to the local economy due to its proximity to Lake Erie and Presque Isle State Park.
