Gashua is a city located in the northeastern part of Nigeria, Specifically in the Yobe State. It is situated on the banks of the Kumadugu Yobe River and surrounded by hills, Making it a picturesque location. The city has a population of approximately 100, 000 people and serves as an important commercial hub for surrounding areas. The history of Gashua dates back to pre-colonial times when it was founded by Kanuri settlers who migrated from Borno State.

The city has since been inhabited by various ethnic groups including Fulani, Shuwa Arabs and Hausa people, Contributing to its cultural richness with their unique traditions and customs.   4. Ibrahim Babangida is another notable figure linked to Gashua; he was born in nearby Minna and attended secondary school in Gashua before becoming Nigeria’s military ruler.
