General Mariano Alvarez, Also known as GMA, Is a municipality situated in Cavite province, Philippines. It was named after General Mariano Alvarez who played a significant role in the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonizers. GMA has a rich history dating back to the 19th century when it was known as Barrio Bayanan and part of Carmona town. In 1867, It became an independent municipality under the name San Jose but was later renamed in honor of General Mariano Alvarez for his contributions to the revolution.

The municipality covers an area of approximately 11 square kilometers and has a population of over 150, 000 people. It borders several other municipalities such as Carmona and Silang. One notable attraction in GMA is its annual fiesta celebration held every March in honor of its patron saint San Roque. The fiesta features various activities such as street dancing competitions and beauty pageants. Another popular attraction is Mount Marami which offers scenic views for hikers. GMA’s economy mainly relies on agriculture with farmers growing crops such as rice, Corn, Sugarcane, And vegetables on its fertile lands.
