Karawang is a regency located in West Java, Indonesia. It is about 60 kilometers away from Jakarta, The capital city of Indonesia. The region covers an area of 1, 652 square kilometers and has a population of around 2 million people. Karawang is known as one of the fastest-growing regions in Indonesia with agriculture and manufacturing driving its economy. The history of Karawang dates back to prehistoric times with archaeological findings indicating human habitation since at least 3000 BC. During the Dutch colonial period, Karawang was one of the main rice-producing areas in West Java.

Today, Karawang’s economy relies heavily on agriculture with crops such as rice, Corn, Cassava and soybeans being produced in large quantities.
