Kot Addu is a small town located in the southern Punjab province of Pakistan, Situated on the banks of the Indus River. The town has a population of around 200, 000 people and is known for its beautiful landscapes, Rich culture and history. The Kot Addu Power Plant is one of the most prominent landmarks in Kot Addu. This thermal power station generates electricity for much of Pakistan and has helped to improve the country’s energy infrastructure significantly. The plant employs thousands of people from Kot Addu and surrounding areas.
Kot Addu has a lot to offer visitors in terms of culture and history. The town was once part of the great Mughal Empire that ruled over much of South Asia during the 16th century. There are many historical sites to explore such as forts, Palaces and mosques that were built during this time period. One such site is Kheri Fort which dates back to pre-Mughal times but was later renovated by Emperor Akbar in 1575 AD.
It served as an important strategic point during wars between different empires due to its location on high ground overlooking both sides of River Sutlej. Another popular attraction in Kot Addu is Ghazi Khan Mosque which was built by Nawab Ghazi Khan Mirani who ruled over this region during early 18th century AD. This beautiful mosque features intricate carvings on its walls and ceilings that showcase Islamic art at its finest.
Apart from these historical sites, Visitors can also enjoy nature walks along Indus River or visit nearby wildlife sanctuaries like Chotiari Dam Wildlife Sanctuary or Taunsa Barrage Wildlife Sanctuary where they can spot various species including deer, Wild boar etc. no visit to Kot Addu would be complete without sampling some local delicacies like sajji, A traditional dish made from marinated lamb that is cooked on an open flame until tender and juicy. Other popular dishes include kebabs, Biryani and chana masala.
