Kouribga is a city in central Morocco, Located approximately 120 kilometers southeast of the capital city, Rabat. The city is situated in the fertile Tadla-Azilal region and is known for its rich phosphate deposits. It has a population of around 200, 000 people and is the largest producer of phosphate in Morocco. The history of Kouribga dates back to pre-Islamic times when it was inhabited by Berber tribes. The area was later ruled by various dynasties including the Almoravids and Almohads before falling under French colonial rule in the early 20th century.
One of the main attractions in Kouribga is its large phosphate mines which are some of the largest in Africa.
