- The LRA insurgency: The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency was a brutal conflict that lasted for over two decades in northern Uganda, including Lira. The rebel group led by Joseph Kony committed numerous atrocities against civilians, including abductions, killings, and mutilations.
