In 1993, Provincial Osorno won the Primera B championship, earning promotion to the top-tier Primera División for the first time ever. However, they were relegated back to the second division after just one season.
  2. Club Deportivo Trasandino: Another football club based in Osorno is Trasandino which was founded in 1929 and has mostly played regional leagues throughout its history. The team’s biggest accomplishment came in 2004 when they won Tercera División de Chile (third division) and earned promotion to Segunda División Profesional.
  3. Club Deportivo ABA Ancud: Although not based directly out of Osorno, ABA Ancud is a successful basketball team hailing from nearby Chiloé Island that has faced off against teams from Osorno over time. The team was founded back in 1982 and has claimed numerous championships at both regional as well as national levels.

Club Deportes Las Ánimas: Established more recently than some of these other teams (in 2010), Las Ánimas is a professional basketball team that plays out of Valdivia but also competes against teams from Osorno as part of Chile’s Liga Nacional de Básquetbol (National Basketball League). In just over ten years since its inception, Las Ánimas has already clinched two league championships – one each for the years 2018 &2020.
