Paço do Lumiar is a municipality in Maranhão, Brazil, Located on the outskirts of São Luís. Its name means Palace of Light and was named after a palace built during colonial times. The region has a population of around 120, 000 people who are mostly Afro-Brazilians with indigenous influence. Paço do Lumiar has several natural attractions like beaches, Lagoons, Rivers and forests making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism enthusiasts.
