Quibala is a city located in the central region of Angola, Specifically in the province of Kwanza Sul. The name Quibala means place where the sun rises, Which is fitting for this bustling city with a population of over 60, 000 people. The city has a rich cultural heritage dating back to pre-colonial times when it was home to various ethnic groups such as Mbundu, Ovimbundu, And Bakongo. Today, These groups coexist with Portuguese settlers who arrived during colonial rule. One of Quibala’s most notable landmarks is its cathedral – The Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Built during Portuguese colonial rule, It still stands tall today as an impressive example of colonial architecture and serves not only as a place for worship but also an important symbol of Angola’s history. Another significant attraction in Quibala are its marketplaces known for their vibrant colors and lively atmosphere where visitors can find everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts made by local artisans.
