Sach’on, Also known as Sacheon, Is a beautiful city located in the southern part of South Korea. It is situated in Gyeongsangnam-do province and is bordered by the Nakdong River to the north and the Namhae Expressway to the south. The city covers an area of approximately 400 square kilometers and has a population of around 115, 000 people. Sach’on has a rich history dating back to ancient times. The area was originally inhabited by various tribes and kingdoms such as Shilla, Gaya, Baekje, And Silla.
During the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), Sach’on became an important center for agriculture and commerce due to its fertile land and strategic location. One of Sach’on’s most famous attractions is Jinju Castle. Built during the Joseon Dynasty in 1633, It served as a fortress against Japanese invasions during that time period. Today it stands as an impressive historical site with well-preserved walls that are over 2 kilometers long. Another popular attraction in Sach’on is Jirisan National Park.
This park covers more than 480 square kilometers and includes several hiking trails that lead visitors through stunning mountain landscapes filled with waterfalls, Streams, Lakes, Forests, Temples and other natural wonders. - Sachon FC: Sachon FC is a professional football club based in Sach’on, South Korea. The team was founded in 2007 and played its first season in the K3 League Advanced division (Korean third-tier league). They won their first championship title during the 2019 season.
- Sachon Blue Thunders: The Sachon Blue Thunders is a professional basketball team that competes in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). The team was founded in 1997 and has been one of the most successful basketball teams from Gyeongsangnam-do province.
- Hyundai Steel Red Angels: Although not based directly out of Sach’on, Hyundai Steel Red Angels are one of the most popular women’s football clubs from South Korea and play their home matches at Pohang Steelyard Stadium which is located near Sacheon City.
- Sacheon Citizen FC: Founded by local enthusiasts on May 1st, 1986 as Donghae Bank Football Club they were later renamed as Sacheon Citizen FC after Donghae Bank withdrew its sponsorship support for them on January 1st, 2005 due to financial difficulties faced by them at that time.
