San Salvador is the capital city of El Salvador, Located in Central America. It is the most populous city in the country, With a population of over 2.4 million people.   6. Tamales are steamed cornmeal cakes filled with meat or vegetables wrapped in banana leaves or corn husks. Visit Tamales Dona Emi for some of the best tamales in town.

  7. Atol de elote is a sweet corn drink made from ground maize mixed with milk and sugar flavored with cinnamon or vanilla extract that you can taste at Mercado Central’s food court.

  8. Chilate is a traditional drink made from cacao seeds blended into hot water along cinnamon sticks as well as other spices like aniseed.
