Shkodër is a city located in northwestern Albania, Near the border with Montenegro. It is known for its rich history, Dating back to at least the 4th century BC when it was called Scodra. Over time, Shkodër has been ruled by various empires including the Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Venetians. One of the most famous landmarks in Shkodër is Rozafa Castle which sits on a hill overlooking the city. Legend has it that three brothers built this castle after being instructed by a fairy to sacrifice one of their wives for its construction.

The chosen wife willingly sacrificed herself and her remains are said to be buried within the castle walls. Another popular attraction in Shkodër is Lake Skadar National Park which spans across both Albania and Montenegro.
