Skopje is the capital city of Macedonia, Located in the northern part of the country. It has a fascinating history, Culture, And architecture dating back to ancient times. Skopje has been inhabited for over 4, 000 years and has been ruled by various empires. One of Skopje’s most iconic landmarks is the Stone Bridge, Built during the Ottoman period in 1451. The bridge spans across the Vardar River which divides Skopje into two parts – Old Bazaar on one side and New Skopje on another.

Old Bazaar is one of Europe’s largest bazaars with over 30 mosques and numerous shops selling traditional goods. Kale Fortress is another interesting attraction in Skopje that offers stunning views of both sides of Vardar River as well as Mount Vodno which towers above Skopje. After an earthquake hit it in 1963 causing extensive damage to buildings throughout the city center government launched a massive reconstruction effort aimed at rebuilding many historic structures along with construction new ones like Alexander The Great statue symbolizing pride Macedonian people have for their heritage.
