Sloviansk is a city in the Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine, Situated on the Kazennyi Torets River. It has a population of approximately 117, 000 people and covers an area of about 40 square kilometers. The city has a rich history dating back to the 17th century when it was founded as a Cossack settlement. During World War II, It suffered significant damage during battles between Soviet and Nazi troops. More recently, Sloviansk became known for being one of the key battlegrounds during the conflict in eastern Ukraine that began in 2014.

Despite its turbulent past, Sloviansk remains an important cultural center for Ukraine with several museums showcasing its history and heritage. One notable attraction is Victory Park which features monuments dedicated to those who fought in World War II as well as stunning views over Kazennyi Torets River.
