  2. Khalid ibn al-Walid, a renowned Muslim general and companion of Prophet Muhammad, played an essential role in the Battle of Tabuk.
  3. Al-Qassim bin Mohammed Al-Makki was a prominent Islamic scholar who resided in Tabuk during the 18th century.
  4. Abdullah ibn Rawahah, another companion of Prophet Muhammad, participated in multiple battles alongside him including the Battle of Tabuk.
  5. King Abdulaziz University has a branch campus in Tabuk that offers various academic programs to students from Saudi Arabia and other countries despite being located primarily in Jeddah.
  6. In 1980, Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 163 crashed near Riyadh after catching fire shortly after takeoff from Jeddah airport en route to Taif and then on to Riyadh via Gassim and Hail where it tragically killed all passengers onboard including those from Taif and Hail as well as those transferred onto it due to overbooking on their flights from Jeddah and Riyadh airports.
