Uluberiya is a picturesque town located in West Bengal’s Howrah district, India. It is well-connected to the rest of the state via various modes of transportation and is situated 38 km away from Kolkata. The town has a rich cultural heritage and historical significance. The name Uluberiya comes from two Bengali words- ulu meaning owl and beria meaning place. According to legend, Owls used to inhabit this area, Making nests in the surrounding trees. During British rule, It was transformed into an important trading center.

One of Uluberiya’s main attractions is the ancient Gaurangeshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Which holds great religious significance for Hindus and attracts devotees throughout the year. Another popular attraction is Baba Taraknath Temple built on top of a hill that offers panoramic views of the landscape.       1. The Battle of Uluberia took place in 1759 between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire during the Third Carnatic War.
