Volgograd is a city in southwestern Russia, Situated on the banks of the Volga River. It was previously known as Stalingrad and became famous for being the site of one of World War II’s most significant battles. The Battle of Stalingrad took place between August 1942 and February 1943, Resulting in a Soviet victory that turned the tide against Nazi Germany. Today, Volgograd is a modern city with over one million inhabitants. It has undergone extensive redevelopment since its destruction during World War II, With new buildings and infrastructure replacing those destroyed during battle.
