  3. Li Bai, a renowned Tang dynasty poet from 701-762 CE, visited Yuyao once and composed an ode to its stunning scenery.
  4. During the Song dynasty (960-1279 CE), Yuyao emerged as a primary producer of celadon pottery and porcelain.
  5. In 1861, during the Taiping Rebellion, Taiping rebels briefly captured Yuyao before Qing forces reclaimed it.
