Zhongshan is a city located in the southern part of China’s Guangdong province. It covers an area of approximately 1, 800 square kilometers and has a population of over 3 million people. The city is named after Sun Yat-sen, One of the founders of modern China. The city has a rich cultural heritage and history that visitors can explore. Noteable History

1. Sun Yat-sen was born in Zhongshan in 1866 and is considered the founding father of the Republic of China.
2. Cantonese opera, a traditional form of Chinese theatre, originated in Zhongshan.
3. During the mid-19th century Opium Wars, Zhongshan played a significant role as a trading port and battleground.
4. Zhongshan suffered heavy losses during World War II when it was occupied by Japanese forces.
5. The Xinhai Revolution led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing dynasty and established the Republic of China in 1911.
6. Dr. Norman Bethune, a Canadian physician who provided medical assistance to Chinese soldiers during the Sino-Japanese War, is commemorated with a museum in his honor in Zhongshan.

2. Zhongshan Huiji Basketball Club: Established in 1998, this professional basketball team competes in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league and has won several championships throughout its history.
3. Zhongshan Dongsheng Taekwondo Team: Founded in 1987, this taekwondo team has produced world-class athletes who have represented China at international competitions such as the Olympics.
