Alchevsk is a city in eastern Ukraine, Located in the Luhansk Oblast region. It sits on the banks of the Siverskyi Donets River and has a population of around 110, 000 people. The city was established in 1895 as a small settlement near a railway station and grew rapidly during Soviet times due to its industrial potential.
