Batu Gajah is a small town located in the Kinta district of Perak, Malaysia. It is situated about 20 kilometers from Ipoh, The capital city of Perak. The town has a rich history and culture that dates back to the early days of British colonialism in Malaysia. One of the main attractions in Batu Gajah is the Kellie’s Castle. This unfinished castle was built by William Kellie Smith, A Scottish planter who came to Malaysia in 1890s. The castle was supposed to be his home but it remained incomplete due to his sudden death in 1926.
