Bhīmavaram is a city in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It’s located on the banks of the Gosthani river and is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, Historical significance, And scenic beauty. The city has a population of over 150, 000 people and serves as one of the major commercial centers in the area. The name Bhīmavaram comes from Bhima, One of the five Pandava brothers from Hindu mythology. According to legend, Bhima visited this place during his exile period and it was named after him.

The city has been ruled by various dynasties such as Satavahanas, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, And Vijayanagara Empire before coming under British rule. One of the main attractions in Bhīmavaram is Sri Someswara Janardana Swamy Temple which dates back to 9th century AD. This ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva attracts thousands of devotees every year who come here to seek blessings and offer prayers. The temple also houses a museum that displays rare artifacts related to Hindu mythology.
