Cantonment is a charming small town situated in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It was established during the British colonial era and served as a military base for the British Army. Today, It remains an important military center in Pakistan with several army installations. One of Cantonment’s most notable features is its well-planned layout, Which includes several sectors with their own markets, Parks, And residential areas.   1. The establishment of the General Headquarters (GHQ) for the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi Cantonment in 1951.
  2. The assassination of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan occurred near Rawalpindi Cantonment at Liaquat Bagh in 1951.
  3. Gen Zia-ul-Haq, who served as a military dictator from 1977 to 1988, was situated in Rawalpindi Cantonment during his tenure as army chief.
  4. In May 2011, US Navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden during a raid on his compound located within Abbottabad Cantonment.
  5. Major General Akhtar Abdur Rahman was an intelligence officer who played a crucial role in the Soviet-Afghan War and later founded the Taliban movement while stationed at Miranshah Cantonment.
  6. Brigadier Abdul Razaq Cheema received Sitara-e-Jurat for his bravery during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 while serving at Sialkot Cantonment.
  7. Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed posthumously earned Nishan-e-Haider for his valor during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 while serving at Burki Cantonment near Lahore.
