Dakar is the capital of Senegal and is located on the westernmost tip of Africa. The city has a population of over 3 million people and serves as a cultural and economic hub for West Africa. Its history dates back to the 15th century when it was founded by the Portuguese as a center of trade and commerce. One of Dakar’s most famous landmarks is Gorée Island, Which used to be a major slave trading center during the transatlantic slave trade era.
