Dassa-Zoumé is a city located in the central region of Benin. It covers an area of approximately 1, 400 square kilometers and has a population of around 90, 000 people. The city is situated on the hills of Atacora and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Dassa-Zoumé is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. It was once a major center for slave trade in West Africa during the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, Visitors can explore several museums and historical sites that showcase this dark period in Benin’s history.

One such site is the House of Slaves, Which was used to hold slaves before they were transported to other parts of the world. The house has been preserved as a museum that provides insight into the lives of those who were held captive there. Another popular attraction in Dassa-Zoumé is the Temple des Pythons (Python Temple). This temple is dedicated to python worship and houses dozens of pythons that are considered sacred by locals. Visitors can witness traditional snake dances performed by priests as part of their religious rituals.
