Gorakhpur is a city located in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. It is situated on the banks of the Rapti River and has a population of approximately 673, 446 people. The history of Gorakhpur dates back to ancient times when it was ruled by various dynasties including the Mauryas, Guptas, Mughals and British. The city was an important center for trade and commerce during these periods due to its strategic location on the Silk Route.

One of the major attractions in Gorakhpur is the Gorakhnath Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was built by Saint Gorakhnath who was one of the most revered saints in India. It attracts thousands of devotees every year who come here to seek blessings from Lord Shiva. Another popular tourist destination in Gorakhpur is Kushinagar which is located about 50 km from the city. This place holds great religious significance as it is believed that Lord Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana here.
