Ibirité is a city located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the state capital, Belo Horizonte. The city has a population of over 170, 000 people and covers an area of around 80 square kilometers. The name Ibirité comes from the Tupi-Guarani language and means land of many hills. This description fits well with the rolling hills and valleys covered in lush vegetation that surround the city. Visitors can enjoy small streams and waterfalls that add to its natural beauty.

Ibirité has a rich history dating back to colonial times when it was founded as a mining town. Gold was discovered in the region in the late 17th century, Which led to an influx of settlers looking for their fortune.
