Ichikawa is a city in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It is located on the eastern coast of Honshu Island and borders Tokyo Bay to the west. The city has a population of approximately 480, 000 people and covers an area of 57 square kilometers. During the Edo period, Ichikawa was known as Ichikawa-shuku and was an important stop along the Nakasendo highway connecting Tokyo and Kyoto. It had a thriving silk industry and was home to many wealthy merchants who built elegant mansions in the area.

Today, Ichikawa is a bustling suburban city with easy access to central Tokyo via several train lines including JR Sobu Line and Keisei Line.
