Inglewood is a city located in the southwestern region of Los Angeles County, California. It is situated just a few miles south of downtown Los Angeles and has a population of approximately 110, 000 people. The city covers an area of 9.14 square miles and is known for its diverse community, Rich history, And cultural landmarks. One of the most notable landmarks in Inglewood is The Forum which was originally built as an indoor sports arena in 1967.

Over the years, It has hosted numerous concerts and events featuring some of the biggest names in music such as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, And Prince. Today, The Forum serves as the home court for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. Another landmark in Inglewood is Hollywood Park Racetrack which closed down after almost 80 years but was recently redeveloped into SoFi Stadium; home to both NFL teams LA Rams & LA Chargers since September 2020.

Sports Teams

  1. The Los Angeles Lakers had a successful run in Inglewood, winning five NBA championships and having some of the greatest players of all time on their roster. They played at The Forum from 1967 to 1999.
  2. The Los Angeles Kings also played at The Forum from 1967 to 1999 before moving to the Staples Center in downtown LA. They made the playoffs nine times while in Inglewood but did not win a Stanley Cup until after they had moved.
  3. Hollywood Park Racetrack was an iconic horse racing track located in Inglewood from its opening in 1938 until its closure in December of 2013. It hosted many prestigious races including the Hollywood Gold Cup and the American Oaks.
  4. Although not originally based out of Inglewood, there are plans for the Los Angeles Clippers to move into a new arena being built on land currently occupied by The Forum.

A new stadium is currently under construction adjacent to The Forum that will be home to both NFL franchises -the Rams who returned to LA from St.Louis after a long hiatus- since relocating there again back in January of ’16- & Chargers who relocated from San Diego just recently starting with season opener games for them back on September ’17-.
