Jhārsugra is a small town located in the Indian state of Odisha, Situated in the western part of the state near the border with Chhattisgarh. The town has a population of around 20, 000 people and is known for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. One of Jhārsugra’s main attractions is its stunning waterfalls, Including Khandadhar Falls – one of India’s highest waterfalls. Surrounded by lush green forests, These falls offer breathtaking views that attract tourists from all over the country. The town was once ruled by various dynasties such as Kalinga, Maurya, Gupta, And Ganga – resulting in several ancient temples and monuments worth visiting. Another interesting aspect of Jhārsugra’s culture is its traditional dance forms like Ghumura Dance which originated here centuries ago. The district headquarters were shifted from Sambalpur to Jharsuguda on 30th April 1994. The district covers an areaof2081 Sq. Km comprising total populationof611162(2011 Census).

It comprises two sub-divisions namely, JHARSUGUDA & LAIKERA having six blocks namely, BANHARPALI, KOLABIRA, LAIKERA, LAKHANPUR & KIRIMIRI.The district is surrounded by Sundargarh District in the North, Raigarh District of Chhattisgarh in the west, Bargarh District in the east and Sambalpur district in south. Jhārsugrā also boasts industrial development with several large industries such as Vedanta Aluminum and Power Plant contributing significantly to its economic growth. This has led to an increase in job opportunities and improved living standards for locals.
