Kherson is a city located in southern Ukraine, Situated on the banks of the Dnieper River and the Black Sea. It serves as the administrative center of Kherson Oblast and has a population of around 300, 000 individuals. Catherine II founded this city in 1778 as a strategic fortress to safeguard Russia’s southern borders. The city is renowned for its stunning parks and gardens, Including Shevchenko Park which boasts an artificial lake and various monuments dedicated to famous Ukrainian writers and poets.

Additionally, There are several museums such as the Kherson Regional Museum of Local Lore and History that showcase its rich history and culture. One of Kherson’s most iconic landmarks is Perekopka Square – its central square where visitors can see an impressive monument erected in 1900 to commemorate Catherine II’s role in founding the city.
