Khost is the capital of Khost Province in southeastern Afghanistan, Situated on the banks of the Khost River. The city’s location makes it a crucial transportation hub for goods and people traveling between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The area has a long history dating back to ancient times when it was part of the Gandhara civilization. Over time, Various ethnic groups have inhabited Khost, Including Pashtuns, Tajiks, And Hazaras. Despite its strategic location for trade and commerce, Khost has faced significant challenges due to conflict with Taliban forces since 1996.

However, Locals still rely heavily on agriculture with wheat being one of its main crops alongside fruits such as apples and pomegranates. Livestock farming is also common in Khost.
