Kurgan is a city situated in the western part of Russia, Approximately 1, 000 km east of Moscow. It serves as the administrative center for Kurgan Oblast and has a population of roughly 340, 000 inhabitants. The city’s origins date back to the early 17th century when it was established as a fortress to safeguard Russia’s southern border from nomadic tribes. This church was built on the site where Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed by Bolsheviks during their captivity after being overthrown from power during World War I.
