Lafia is a city in the north-central region of Nigeria, Serving as the capital of Nasarawa State and an important center for commerce, Administration and education. The city has a population of over 330, 000 people and is situated on the banks of River Benue. The name Lafia means peace in Hausa language, Reflecting the peaceful coexistence among its diverse ethnic groups such as Hausa, Eggon, Alago, Gwandara and others. The city has a rich cultural heritage that can be seen in its festivals such as Ake Festival celebrated by the Eggon people and Loko Festival celebrated by Alago people.

Lafia boasts several scenic spots such as Farin Ruwa Falls which is located about 120km from Lafia and considered one of Nigeria’s highest waterfalls with a height of about 150 meters.
