León de los Aldama, Also known as León, Is a city situated in the state of Guanajuato in central Mexico. It has a population of over 1.5 million people and is the largest city in the state, As well as being the seventh-largest metropolitan area in Mexico. The city’s economy is based on industrial growth and textile production, But it also boasts a rich cultural heritage that dates back to pre-Columbian times. León was founded by Spanish conquistadors in 1576 under the name Villa de León.

It was named after Juan de Aldama, Who was born in nearby San Miguel el Grande and became one of the leaders of Mexico’s independence movement.
