Matsubara is a city located in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, Situated on the eastern side of Osaka Bay with a population of approximately 120, 000 people. The city has a rich history and cultural heritage that dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868). One of Matsubara’s significant landmarks is the Matsubara Castle ruins built in 1580 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, One of Japan’s most famous military commanders. Unfortunately, It was destroyed during a battle in 1615 and only the ruins remain today. Visitors can still enjoy exploring its grounds and learning about its historical significance.

Another popular attraction is Hanazono Shrine founded over 1, 300 years ago as an important place of worship ever since. Visitors can admire its beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere while learning about Japanese religious practices. Matsubara also offers natural beauty with many parks and gardens such as Nagai Botanical Garden featuring over 1, 000 species of plants from around the world including rare orchids and carnivorous plants.
