Maykop is a city located in the southern region of Russia, Specifically in the Republic of Adygea. The city has a population of around 150, 000 people and is situated on the right bank of the Belaya River. Maykop is known for its rich history and culture, Which dates back to ancient times. The name Maykop comes from an ancient Adyghe word that means valley. This name accurately describes the geography of the area as Maykop sits in a valley surrounded by mountains.
