Merced is a city located in the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley. It is the county seat of Merced County and has a population of approximately 83, 000 people. The city was founded in 1872 and named after the nearby Merced River, Which flows through Yosemite National Park. Merced has a rich agricultural history and is known for its production of almonds, Dairy products, And sweet potatoes. In recent years, The city has also become an important center for education with two universities – University of California, Merced and Merced College – located within its boundaries.

One of the most notable attractions in Merced is Castle Air Museum. This museum houses over 70 vintage military aircraft from World War II to present day. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about each aircraft’s history and significance. Another popular attraction in Merced is Lake Yosemite.
