1. The Mississauga Treaty was signed by the British Crown in 1787, ceding over 250,000 acres of land to the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation in what is now Mississauga.
2. The Battle of Cooksville occurred during the War of 1812 when American forces led by General William Hull attempted to invade Canada through what is now Mississauga. The battle resulted in a British victory near Cooksville.
3. John Graves Simcoe played an important role as a British army officer and colonial administrator who served as the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada from 1791 to 1796, establishing settlements throughout Ontario including what is now Mississauga.
