Mokameh is a small town located in the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated on the banks of the river Ganges, Which makes it an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. The town is known for its beautiful temples and ghats that attract thousands of devotees every year. One of the most famous temples in Mokameh is the Baba Garibnath Temple, Dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple has a rich history and attracts a large number of visitors during festivals like Mahashivratri and Shravan month. Apart from religious significance, Mokameh also has historical importance.

It was once an important center for trade and commerce during ancient times when it was known as Mukamika or Mukamishvara. The town was ruled by various dynasties before being annexed by British East India Company in 1764. Mokameh’s economy mainly depends on agriculture with rice being the main crop grown here. The fertile soil along with water from Ganges River makes it an ideal place for farming. The town also has a railway station which connects it to major cities like Patna, Kolkata, Delhi etc.

      1. The Battle of Buxar: One of the significant sites where the battle between British East India Company and an alliance of Indian rulers led by Mir Qasim, Nawab of Bengal was fought in 1764.
      2. Mahatma Gandhi: During his Champaran Satyagraha movement in 1917, Mahatma Gandhi visited Mokameh and met with farmers who were protesting against British landlords for forcing them to grow indigo.
