Naogaon is a district located in the northern part of Bangladesh, Known for its rich cultural heritage, Diverse history and breathtaking natural beauty. It is situated on the banks of the river Padma and surrounded by lush greenery and hills. Naogaon has a population of around 2 million people and covers an area of approximately 3, 435 square kilometers. The district has a long history that dates back to ancient times. Naogaon was once part of the Pundra Kingdom, Which flourished during the Maurya Empire in India.

Later on, It became part of various empires such as Gupta Empire, Harsha Empire, Pala Empire and Sena Dynasty. During British rule in India (1858-1947), Naogaon was under Rajshahi Division. One of the main attractions in Naogaon is its rich cultural heritage. The district is home to many historic sites such as temples, Mosques and palaces that reflect its diverse religious traditions. The most famous temple in Naogaon is Jagaddhatri Temple which was built during Sena Dynasty’s reign (11th century AD). Another famous temple is Kusumba Mosque which was built during Mughal period by Prince Shah Shuja.

Naogaon also boasts several natural wonders that attract tourists from all over Bangladesh as well as abroad. The district has a well-established education system with several universities, Colleges and schools. Naogaon Zilla School, Established in 1836, Is one of the oldest schools in Bangladesh.

    1. Baruni Fair is a popular festival held annually in Naogaon district during the Bengali month of Chaitra (March-April). The fair is dedicated to the goddess Baruni, and attracts visitors from all over the district who come to offer prayers and participate in cultural activities.
