Oyo is a city located in Oyo State, Nigeria, Situated about 80 kilometers north of Lagos. The city has a rich cultural history and has been an important center for the Yoruba people for centuries. It was once the capital of the powerful Oyo Empire, Which controlled much of present-day Nigeria and neighboring countries. One of the most notable landmarks in Oyo is the Alaafin’s Palace, Which serves as a symbol of traditional authority in Yoruba culture. The palace dates back to the 18th century and features intricate carvings and decorations that reflect Yoruba artistry.
