Ilesa is a city located in Osun State, Nigeria. It is situated in the southwestern part of the country and has a population of approximately 500, 000 people. Ilesa is known for its rich cultural heritage, Historical landmarks, And beautiful scenery. The city has a long history dating back to the 16th century when it was founded by the Yoruba people. It was originally known as Iloko which means the place of peace. Over time, It evolved into Ilesa which means I have achieved my objective. One of the most notable landmarks in Ilesa is the Owa Obokun’s Palace.

The palace was built in 1936 and serves as the residence of the traditional ruler of Ijesaland. The palace is an architectural masterpiece with intricate carvings and designs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Ijesaland. Another landmark worth visiting is Oke Maria Hill. This hill is believed to be a sacred site where miracles occur frequently. Every year thousands of pilgrims from all over Nigeria visit this site to pray for healing and spiritual growth. The Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove also lies within close proximity to Ilesa City.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers an area of about 75 hectares and contains several shrines, Sculptures, And artworks dedicated to various deities worshipped by Yoruba people.
