Puyang Chengguanzhen is a city in Henan Province, China, Located on the northern bank of the Yellow River. Its population is around 600, 000 people and it has a rich history dating back to the Shang Dynasty.   3. Yang Guifei, one of the Four Beauties of ancient China and consort to Emperor Xuanzong during the Tang Dynasty, is believed to have been born in Puyang Chengguanzhen.
  4. During the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD), Puyang Chengguanzhen became an important hub for Confucianism with many scholars and intellectuals residing there.
  5. Mongol forces captured Puyang Chengguanzhen in 1232 as part of their invasion of China.
  6. The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) saw Puyang Chengguanzhen become a major agricultural center with rice paddies covering much of its surrounding countryside.
  7. In 1900, foreign troops entered Puyang Chengguanzhen during the Boxer Rebellion as part of their efforts to suppress anti-Western uprisings in China.
  8. Warlord Zhang Zuolin frequently clashed with local authorities in nearby Fengtian Province during the early 20th century while ruling over much of northeastern China from his base there.
  9. Communist forces occupied much of northern China including Puyang Chengguanzhen before ultimately triumphing over Nationalist forces during the Chinese Civil War (1945-1949).
  10. Recent years have seen rapid economic development take place in Puyang Chengguanzhen thanks to major investments made into infrastructure and industry that have transformed it into a regional hub for manufacturing and trade.
